Demand transparency and access on Facebook

Le problème

This petition aims to say STOP to three major abuses that are no longer tolerable.

1. Total Opacity Regarding Our Data
We accepted Terms of Service (ToS), not a pact of servitude. The opacity Facebook displays regarding the actual use of our personal data is legally alarming.

  1. The Problem: Beyond ad targeting, we are navigating a "black box." How does our data influence what we see? How is it cross-referenced with our offline activities?
  2. The Unacceptable: The lack of traceability and real control offered to the user is an infringement on our digital sovereignty. We demand radical transparency, not labyrinthine settings menus designed to discourage us.

2.The Login Nightmare: Security Must Not Be Exclusionary
What is my crime? Having changed phones, having traveled, or having been the victim of a hack.

  1. The Trap of the "Unknown" Device: Attempting to log in from a new device has become a Kafkaesque obstacle course. Infinite validation loops, codes sent to devices we no longer have access to, or the systematic rejection of valid proofs of identity are abusive practices.
  2. Denial of Service: In the name of "security," Facebook locks the door to your own digital home and throws away the key. This is an undue appropriation of your account and your digital identity.

3. The Wall of Silence: We Want Humans, Not Robots!
This is the most critical point of our legal battle. When a problem arises, the user hits an automated wall of silence.

  1. The Absence of Tangible Assistance: It is inconceivable that a company capitalized at several hundred billion dollars does not have accessible human customer service.
  2. The Tribunal of Robots: Decisions regarding suspension or blocking are made by algorithms. Appeals are processed by other algorithms. Where is the right to a defense? Where is the right to be heard?
  3. Dehumanization: Leaving users in distress, unable to recover years of photos or professional contacts without any human interlocutor, constitutes a moral failing and significant commercial damage.

Our Demands
By signing this petition, we demand immediate compliance from Meta/Facebook regarding respect for its users:

  1. Implementation of Human Customer Support: Creation of an accessible recourse mechanism with real people to handle complex blocking cases and account thefts.
  2. Simplification of Account Recovery: The procedure for logging in from a new device must be secure but feasible. Identity verification via official documents must be processed by humans within 48 hours.
  3. Algorithmic Transparency: An end to black boxes regarding the usage of our data.
Digital law must not be the law of the strongest. Let us take back control of our digital lives.

Sign the petition to demand that Facebook treat us like citizens, not products.
