Demand timely release of NCERT books for Hindi-medium students
The Issue
I am writing this petition because I'm deeply frustrated and worried about the delayed release of NCERT textbooks, particularly for Hindi-medium students. This issue is very personal to me because I know how it feels to be left in the lurch without essential study materials, especially with final exams just around the corner in February. It's not just my voice that echoes this concern, but thousands of students who share this anxiety.
The delay in releasing Part 1 of the textbooks was stressful enough, and there's still no clarity on when Part 2 will be available. This lack of availability severely impacts our study plans and preparation time, putting undue stress on students who are already trying to adapt to a new syllabus. We are not opposed to the syllabus changes, but the execution has been incredibly flawed. Why release the books so late? And why are Hindi-medium textbooks still unavailable while English-medium students seem to have slightly better access?
To support our preparation efforts, the NCERT must do the following:
1. Set and adhere to a clear timeline for the release of Part 2 textbooks, ensuring that this information is communicated effectively to all students and educational institutions.
2. Ensure Hindi-medium textbooks are available at the same time and with the same priority as English-medium ones. This includes digital access to textbooks so all students have equal opportunity to study early, regardless of their geographical location or socio-economic background.
3. Provide additional resources or guides online for students transitioning to the new syllabus, to help bridge the gap created by the delayed book releases.
In a country where Hindi is a widely spoken and used language, our education system should not overlook Hindi-medium students. This is not just about study material availability; it's about equal educational opportunities for all.
We urge NCERT and the relevant educational authorities to take immediate action to correct these lapses. Please sign this petition to support timely and equitable access to educational resources for Hindi-medium students.
