The Issue

My children were taken from me due to extremely false allegations, and absolutely no investigation was conducted to substantiate these baseless claims. Despite possessing evidence to prove the inaccuracies of these accusations, communication with our caseworker has been virtually impossible. She credulously accepts all the false statements made against me and my children's father without question. Consequently, my children are now living with foster parents, separated from their loving home. This is not just my story; it's a plight shared by countless families. In fact, an alarming 92% of all Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS) cases stem from false allegations. This overwhelmingly high percentage indicates a systemic issue within the organization that prioritizes hasty removals over thorough investigations. This inevitably leads to children being unjustly separated from their parents and placed into foster care, disrupting their stability and well-being. DCFS caseworkers should be required to perform comprehensive investigations before making life-altering decisions. At the very least, they should have definitive proof of any accusations before taking children away from their homes and parents. This call is not just for the sake of fairness but for the protection of children's futures and familial integrity. Furthermore, DCFS ought to adopt policies that prioritize keeping children with their biological families, working diligently to support and improve home environments rather than focusing primarily on foster placements. Evidence-based decision-making should be foundational to DCFS operations. This involves conducting in-depth investigations that include talking to all parties involved, checking credibility, and looking for tangible evidence. Implementing training programs for caseworkers focused on fair and unbiased investigatory practices can significantly reduce the occurrence of unjustified child removals. By signing this petition, you're supporting a call for change that seeks to protect children and empower families. We urge DCFS to address these alarming statistics and implement necessary reforms that ensure the welfare of children and respect the sanctity of family bonds. Join us in demanding justice and integrity within DCFS's operations.
