Demand Thomaston Georgia Police & District Attorney Take Domestic Violence Cases Seriously

Demand Thomaston Georgia Police & District Attorney Take Domestic Violence Cases Seriously
The Issue
As a domestic violence advocate, I've witnessed firsthand how the system can fail those it's supposed to protect. My girlfriend, a three-time survivor of domestic violence, found no refuge or justice in Thomaston, Georgia. The local law enforcement and District Attorney Marie Broder have consistently treated domestic violence cases with a startling lack of severity, often choosing probation instead of jail or prison time for the abusers.
This negligent approach is more than frustrating—it's life-threatening. The decisions made by the police and DA Broder not only undermined my girlfriend's trust in the local law enforcement but also put her life in danger. Furthermore, this lenient treatment of abusers sends the wrong message, reinforcing the cycle of violence and leaving victims feeling hopeless and unprotected.
It's important to note that domestic violence's impact reaches far beyond the immediate victims. Children who witness such violence in the home suffer too. Witnessing violence between one's parents or caretakers has consistently been identified as a significant risk factor for the propagation of violence from one generation to the next.
Therefore, we're demanding the Thomaston Georgia police department start taking these cases seriously by making immediate arrests. We're also asking DA Marie Broder to issue sentences that match the gravity of these crimes, preferably jail or prison time instead of probation. Lastly, we urge the city council & mayor to launch an investigation into this negligence and establish a domestic violence citizen review board urgently.
Everyone deserves safety and justice. By signing this petition, you support stronger measures against domestic violence in Thomaston, Georgia. Your signature can help ensure victims are heard, offenders are held accountable, and children are spared from the traumatic cycle of domestic violence. Please, sign and share this petition today.
In my girlfriend's case like so many other cases when law-enforcement would come out most times the responding officer would only give out warnings instead of actually arresting her ABUSER as doing the same to other victims of domestic violence here in Thomaston Georgia
On the rare occasions when these people do get arrested the district attorney and judges will only hand out PROBATION instead of actual jail or prison time
Many women are even afraid to call 911 for this very fact
Domestic violence also affects several innocent children and not to arrest and not to punish these violent abusers is a slap in the face to victims of domestic violence
The same justice system who is supposed to serve and protect is also VICTIMIZING these victims all over again
PLEASE help also sign this petition
And please help me by sharing this petition
I have another petition directed at Georgia law makers to change these slack domestic violence laws
You can find that petition by clicking the bar menu looking thing at the upper right of the screen and using the option to search and to find that one just type in my name Eugene Allison
