DEMAND THE UN ENACT ARTICLE 377A : “Uniting for Peace Resolution”
The Issue
I write today imploring the members of the United Nations, to use their remaining power to enact Article 377A: The “Uniting for Peace” Resolution in regards to the ongoing Humanitarian Crisis currently unfolding in Gaza & the whole of Palestine. This resolution has been used historically for less than an unfolding Genocide. This has been the most dangerous conflict in UN history, taking over a hundred lives from your own personnel. Israeli, Palestinian and other Civilian populations in the region remain at risk. Numbers now put Palestinian civilian casualties at over 25,000 with many still missing, injured, starving, dehydrated, and falling ill due to exposure and beyond inhumane living conditions forced upon them. The United States has voiced its unequivocal support for this onslaught of violence and has showed this through its constant influx of funds and weaponry to the State of Israel. They have also made their position inextricably clear in their repeated inability to call for a Ceasefire when it is so direly needed. Your own institution, Doctors Without Borders, UNICEF and other Humanitarian rights groups have stated so loudly and repeatedly they support a Ceasefire, and yet your statements have not gone on to save the lives they set out to. Rather, the inaction of this body is directly responsible for thousands of lives lost in the last 2 months- preventable deaths. The international community calls on you now, to stand firmly in your purpose, to show your reason for being. We implore you - for the sake of those innocents needlessly dying every day this continues, for the sake of our shared future on this planet, for the sake of our shared humanity- TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION. Use your power today to enact Article 377A. To supersede the Veto Power of the United States and call for an Immediate and Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza. Do what you set out to do, SAVE INNOCENT LIVES.
