This petition has been born out of the personal tragedy of a family being unjustly separated from their beloved patriarch. Ensnared in a questionable legal system, an elderly, disabled man, and loving husband of 51 years was abruptly taken from his family in Ventura County and relocated to a substandard nursing home in Los Angeles, 2.5 hours away. He was ripped away from his son, loving wife, and two adoring grandchildren under the pretense of "transferring liability," per one of the ventura county public guardians.

Allegedly, this action was taken by Ventura County to conceal neglectful care and fraud. There is a grave concern that he has been dispatched to a nursing home with a history of substandard care and abuse, where the staff remain unfamiliar with his medical history and needs.

This case echoes with the chilling resonance of a broader issue in our society: the elderly are often neglected, stowed away out of sight and out of mind. This reality is a stark contrast to our societal values – commitment to protecting the vulnerable and maintaining the family unit.

Our demand is simple yet carries immense significance: We demand the immediate investigation into the alleged malpractices involved in this case, the return of this unfairly treated elderly man to his family in Ventura, and the establishment of checks and balances to ensure such events are not repeated.

For perspective, the condition concealed by the county is called stercoral colitis and what it does is dilate your intestines until they literally explode which is obviously quite painful. Instead of helping our family collaborate together to obtain specialist care, the county took a different approach and removed him from our family under false pretenses.

Counties unfortunately do the hospital's bidding all the time. This scenario could happen to ANYONE. This is not a misunderstanding or an accident. This is county government abusing a legal process to forcibly remove a loved one from their home without cause to cover up a pervasive pattern of elder abuse and neglect by hospitals because they are flexing their powers.
