We are calling for immediate accountability. Chairman David Edge has used his public platform to amplify racially charged vitriol and has explicitly stated he will not apologize to the citizens he serves. The Standard of Leadership

Robeson County is a community of diverse people, hard-working families, and untapped potential. As the Chairman of our Board of Commissioners, David Edge holds the highest-ranking office in our local government. With that office comes a fundamental responsibility: to represent every citizen with dignity, respect, and professional judgment.

​The Failure of Judgment

Recently, Chairman Edge used his social media platform to circulate inflammatory content that relies on harmful tropes and divisive rhetoric. When the community asked for accountability, the Chairman’s response was a refusal to apologize, claiming his "intentions" excuse the impact of his actions.

​Leadership is not a 9-to-5 job that you can switch off on Facebook. When the face of our county validates vitriol, it damages our reputation, hurts our ability to attract economic investment, and tells thousands of residents that their identity is a subject for debate.

​Our Demands

We, the undersigned residents and stakeholders of Robeson County, believe that our county cannot move forward while being led backward.

We formally demand:

​The Immediate Resignation of David Edge as Chairman and member of the Robeson County Board of Commissioners.

​A Formal Resolution of Censure by the Board of Commissioners if resignation is not tendered, officially disavowing his conduct.​

We further demand the immediate removal of David Edge from the Chairmanship of the Board and the stripping of all his committee assignments, as his demonstrated lack of professional judgment has rendered him unfit to represent the interests of Robeson County in any leadership or oversight capacity.

A Commitment to Professional Standards that ensures no elected official uses their platform to marginalize the people they were elected to serve.

​It is time for a new standard in Robeson County. It is time for leadership that puts the citizens first.
