Demand the resignation of Ricky Bell
The Issue
Petition Calling for the Resignation of Ricky Bell, Leader of Glasgow City Council.
Call for the Resignation of Ricky Bell Over the Mishandling of Glasgow’s Pay & Grading Scheme.
We, the undersigned, call for the immediate resignation of Ricky Bell, Leader of Glasgow City Council, due to his handling of the new pay and grading scheme, the spread of misinformation surrounding its implementation, and the discriminatory treatment directed towards UNISON and its members.
The pay and grading scheme has caused widespread confusion, anxiety, and distrust among council staff. Instead of providing clarity, leadership has allowed misinformation to circulate unchecked, leaving workers uncertain about their future and vulnerable to unfair treatment. This failure of governance has eroded confidence in the Council’s ability to manage a process that directly affects thousands of employees.
Furthermore, the actions taken by the Council under Ricky Bell’s leadership have demonstrated clear and unacceptable discrimination towards UNISON and UNISON members. Trade union representatives and members have been sidelined, misrepresented, and targeted for raising legitimate concerns about the fairness and legality of the scheme. This behaviour undermines the fundamental right of workers to organise, negotiate, and be represented without fear of reprisal.
Leadership must uphold transparency, fairness, and respect for all staff and unions. Ricky Bell has failed to meet these standards.
We therefore call for Ricky Bell to resign from his position as Leader of Glasgow City Council, so that trust can be restored, negotiations can proceed in good faith, and Glasgow’s workforce can be treated with the dignity and fairness they deserve.
We urge councillors, political groups, and the wider public to support this call for accountability.
