The Issue

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth put American lives at risk by leaking classified U.S. military plans in an unsecured group chat. He must resign immediately.

The Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg was added to a Signal group chat titled “Houthi PC small group" with several top officials. Goldberg reported that on March 15 at 11:44 a.m., Hegseth posted the operational details of forthcoming U.S. airstrikes on Yemen in a Signal group chat. His message included:

  • Target locations
  • Weapons the U.S. would be deploying
  • Attack sequencing

If an adversary had accessed this information, it could have been used to harm American military and intelligence personnel.

This is an appalling breach of duty from the nation’s top defense official. Instead of protecting U.S. military secrets, Hegseth recklessly broadcasted them over an unsecured messaging app on personal devices.

Someone who treats classified war plans like casual texts cannot be trusted to lead the Department of Defense.

Sign now to demand Pete Hegseth’s immediate resignation. America’s national security depends on accountability.
