We are a group of residents of Lewisboro, NY, that are deeply disturbed by the recent antisemitic posts made by Dan Welsh on Facebook. We believe that prejudicial statements made by a public official against any one group are the direct opposite of the leadership that should be exhibited by such individuals and in extreme cases should lead to the resignation of officials engaging in that kind of public viewpoint. 

Antisemitism has no place in our community, yet it is being encouraged by individuals like Dan Welsh. According to the Anti-Defamation League, antisemitism has increased by over 300% in recent years - a statistic that is both alarming and unacceptable.

Dan Welsh's actions not only perpetuate this harmful trend but also violate our community's values of respect and inclusivity. As members of this community, we must hold him accountable for his actions. We are calling on our town board to censure Dan Welsh for his inappropriate behavior and for Dan Welsh to resign. Dan's statements go against the principles outlined in our Town Code of Ethics. 

We are also concerned that the comments made by Mr. Welsh on his Facebook page was not posted until November 17th, a week and a half after Lewisboro's recent council election. It appears that Mr. Welsh may have purposely withheld his disturbing comments until after the election for political gain, calling into question whether he is of substantive enough character to serve in a leadership position. 

We believe strongly in the right of every American, including Mr. Welsh, to express their own personal opinions or speech and/or in text. However, when you serve a community as one if its leaders, you lose credibility and the ability to lead by expressing hateful opinions about a group of your own constituents.
