This petition involves a raw, personal story of severe injustice. A woman, a mother, was sexually assaulted in her home in Ada, has had to live with the knowledge of her attacker freely roaming in the same town. All because the inaction of a police officer.

Tracy Jackson, the Chief of the Ada Police Department, failed this woman when he held onto a rape kit from a case in November 2012, not turning it over to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation until a decade later in December 2022. This atrocious lapse in duty has undoubtedly compromised the integrity of the legal progression of this case.

Beyond this individual case, Jackson's actions raise grand questions about the integrity and operational effectiveness of the law enforcement agency he presides over. We have been compelled to question, how many other cases might have been mishandled, how many perpetrators are still on our streets due to negligence and indifference?

As members of the Ada community, we expect a police department that prioritizes justice, truth, and the safety of its residents. We insist on a leadership that upholds these values and translates them into action.

This is why, we, as a community, request Tracy Jackson to immediately step down from his position as the Chief of the Ada Police Department. He has proven himself unworthy of our trust and we strongly believe he should not hold any other position within the Ada Police Department. Let this be a strong message to our community and law enforcement agencies nationally: suppressing evidence will not be tolerated and carries dire consequences.
