As a mother with neuro-divergence, I take offense at the thoughtless and disrespectful comments made by Jay Weber, an on-air contributor at News Radio 1130 and WISN12, concerning Gus Walz, a young member of the neuro-divergent community. Not just I, but many of us are deeply disturbed by the glaring lack of sensitivity and blatant disregard for this vulnerable group that Weber's derogatory remarks at the Democratic convention reflect. HIS actions do not line up with the fundamentals of humanity we so direly hold as American citizens.

The damaging effect of such behavior cannot be understated. According to the National Institutes of Mental Health, the percentage of youth aged 12-17 who have experienced a neurodevelopmental or mental disorder is almost 20%, a substantial segment of our population left out in the cold by Weber's repugnant comments. This is not acceptable behavior for someone in such a prominent position.

We live in a society that prides itself on empathy, compassion and respect for all, regardless of mental health status. Weber's behavior presents a clear deviation from the fundamental morals we strive to uphold. His derogatory statements have caused significant emotional harm, which is grounds for dismissal from his role.

We urge News Radio 1130, WISN12 and iHeart Radio to take immediate action, hold him accountable for his abhorrent actions, and remove him from the air. This sends a message that such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated, fostering a more compassionate society protective of the neuro-divergent community.
