I am one of many disgruntled constituents from Okrika Local Government Area, Rivers State, Nigeria. We voted for our representative in Rivers State House Of Assembly with the hopes of being heard and having our cries for improvement answerable. Yet, these hopes have been dashed. Our legislator has embarked on a path that clearly abandons us, her constituents, all in favor of personal and political interests. Her shocking declaration in support of her godfather who on countless occasions and on National TV expressed that politics is a game of personal interest is a flagrant disregard of the sacred democratic principle that a representative should serve the best interests of her electorate.

Caught in the clutches of political maneuvers, we, the citizens of Okrika LGA are the ones who suffer. Our legislator, choosing to stand with her political associates, has deprived us of our rightful state allocation - an act that has left us grappling with desperate circumstances. Adequate nutrition, a basic human right, has turned into a privilege that many can't afford now. We've been stripped of our salaries and allowances, pensions and gratuities to your retired parents have not been paid. It's not just a matter of empty stomachs. This is about our dignity, our basic human rights, literally being starved out of us. People are dying.

Countless attempts have been made to reach out to her. The elderly, traditional rulers, leaders, and the masses have made tireless efforts to voice our grievances but all have proven futile. Her silence is a defiant disregard of the actions that should come naturally to a leader – to listen, to care, to act.

This petition is a call for the immediate recall of our representative. We urge the relevant authorities to wake to our pleas and aid us in the pursuit for accountability especially INEC. It's high time that our representative is reminded that politics is not a game of personal gain but a service, a commitment, and a pledge to its community. We are stakeholders in this democracy, and we demand our rightful representation. Tamuno Siye-berenima 🙏
