Demand the Dismissal of Officers Involved in Police Hate Crimes

Demand the Dismissal of Officers Involved in Police Hate Crimes
The Issue
It is a story as harrowing as it is personal. In Saint Augustine, FL, three named officers - Brandon Heltzer, Justin Ackerman, and Travis Smith - allegedly partake in behavior that puts even the word 'unlawful' to shame. Representing a force meant to protect and to serve, these officers have been reportedly involved in a series of shameful actions, including hate crimes against African-Americans, destruction of property, and engagement in an array of felonious activities.
My husband and our home fell victim to their deeds. Under the pretenses of a narcotics investigation, the local SJSO Narcotics Task Force, alongside ATF and Homeland Security, subjected our property to a nine-hour ordeal of unlawful search. No illegal substances were found during the search, yet three months later, my husband was arrested under charges of trafficking cocaine. Even more baffling, the charges were later morphed, ostensibly to fit their narrative, to conspiracy to trafficking cocaine. My husband and I was, reprehendingly, forced out of our home naked and my husband is now falsely accused of a heinous crime he did not commit.
Their misguided actions go beyond a mere dereliction of duty, striding into the territory of a flagrant defiance of the law they are meant to uphold, and the racially biased misconduct they perpetrate feeds nothing but fear and chaos in our community.
This petition serves to demand a thorough, unbiased investigation into the actions of these officers, a cessation of their duties and ultimately, their removal from office. Officers Heltzer, Ackerman, and Smith, have betrayed the badge they don and the oath they swore to protect all citizens.
Together, let's strive towards a community where law enforcement truly serves to protect, no longer a cause of dread for its inhabitants. Let's insist that our law enforcers adhere to the tenets of justice as faithfully as they demand the same of us. It begins with signing this petition today—demand justice, demand accountability.
