During an official public grievance meeting in Alur, Sakleshpur, Karnataka's Excise Minister K. M. Shivalinge Gowda made a shocking statement that has reverberated across the state: he described the act of giving bribes to officials as 'Dharma'. In a nation striving to uphold democratic values and transparency, such remarks by a cabinet minister are utterly unacceptable and deeply concerning.

As a citizen who cares about the integrity and future of our democracy, I am appalled by Minister K. M. Shivalinge Gowda's audacity to rationalize corruption at a public forum. The minister, rather than promoting ethical governance and fighting corruption, has instead sanctioned bribery as an acceptable practice. His words not only undermine public trust but also embolden corrupt practices, directly impacting the lives of every citizen in Karnataka.

This isn’t merely a political faux pas; it’s a grave threat to our democratic fabric. When a person holding such an influential position publicly justifies corruption, it sends a dangerous message that compromises the moral standards of governance. This statement sets a reprehensible precedent, giving license to unethical behavior and jeopardizing the aspirations of countless honest Indians who aspire for a cleaner, corruption-free society.

The civic organization 'Voice of People', alongside thousands who value transparency and democracy, demands Minister Gowda's immediate resignation or dismissal from the cabinet. Continuing to allow an advocate of bribery in the chamber of governance is an affront to our democratic institutions. Accountability must be upheld.

We call upon the Chief Minister and the government of Karnataka to act decisively. Minister Gowda’s statements cannot be brushed under the carpet, as doing so would signal a tolerance for corruption. ಹಾಸನ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸಕಲೇಶಪುರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಆಲೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ಅಧಿಕೃತ 'ಪ್ರಜಾ ಸೇವಾ ಆಂದೋಲನ' ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಅಬಕಾರಿ ಸಚಿವರಾದ ಕೆ. ಎಂ. ಶಿವಲಿಂಗೇಗೌಡರು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಆಘಾತಕಾರಿ ಹೇಳಿಕೆ ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲೇ " ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಗೌರವಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ಏನು ಕೊಡಬೇಕೋ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವುದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಧರ್ಮ, ಹಾಗಂತ ಬಲವಂತವಾಗಿ ದುಡ್ಡನ್ನು ಕಿತ್ತುಕೊಳ್ಳೊದು ಸರಿಯಲ್ಲ" ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಜನರೇ ಮೊದಲೇ ಕೊಡಲಿ  ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಭ್ರಷ್ಟಾಚಾರವನ್ನು ಮುಕ್ತವಾಗಿ ಸಮರ್ಥಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮಾಣ ವಚನ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿರುವ ಸಚಿವರೊಬ್ಬರು ಲಂಚಗುಳಿತನವನ್ನು ಧರ್ಮ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುವುದು ಪ್ರಜಾಪ್ರಭುತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಬಗೆದ ದ್ರೋಹವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇದು 'ಭ್ರಷ್ಟಾಚಾರ ತಡೆ ಕಾಯ್ದೆ 1988' ರ ಆಶಯಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಡು ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇಡೀ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಆಡಳಿತ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ತಲೆತಗ್ಗಿಸುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.

ನಾಗರಿಕ ಹಿತಾಸಕ್ತಿಗಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ 'ವಾಯ್ಸ್ ಆಫ್ ಪೀಪಲ್' (Voice of People) ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯು ಈ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಚಿವರ ಈ ಅಹಂಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಭ್ರಷ್ಟ ನಡೆಗೆ ತೀವ್ರ ಖಂಡನೆ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗಳು:
1. ಮಾನ್ಯ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳು ಸಚಿವ ಕೆ. ಎಂ. ಶಿವಲಿಂಗೇಗೌಡರನ್ನು ತಕ್ಷಣವೇ ಸಚಿವ ಸಂಪುಟದಿಂದ ವಜಾಗೊಳಿಸಬೇಕು.
2. ಸಚಿವರು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಜನತೆಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಬಹಿರಂಗವಾಗಿ ಕ್ಷಮೆಯಾಚಿಸಬೇಕು.

ಲಂಚ ಕೊಡುವುದು ಧರ್ಮವಲ್ಲ, ಅದು ನಮ್ಮ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಹಿಡಿದಿರುವ ಶಾಪ. ಭ್ರಷ್ಟಾಚಾರ ಮುಕ್ತ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಯುತ ನಾಗರಿಕರೂ ಈ ಅಭಿಯಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಹಿ ಹಾಕುವ ಮೂಲಕ ನಮ್ಮ ಹೋರಾಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡಿ!
