Demand That Meta Be Held Accountable for Scam Advertisements

Demand That Meta Be Held Accountable for Scam Advertisements
The Issue
My friends, many of whom due to age are not as proficient with technology, are becoming the targets of scams facilitated by Meta's deliberate inattentiveness in handling scam advertisements. Not only have they fallen prey to these scams, but their identities have been hijacked to perpetuate the victimization of others.
This is not just a personal plight; it's a widespread, growing issue. As Meta continues to evade responsibility, a wave of insidious scams sweeps across the platform. There's a dire need for transparency and accountability. Meta, one of the world's largest social media conglomerates, profiting from these deceitful ads only adds salt to the wound.
Throughout recent years, many have reported about scams circulating on Facebook, Instagram, and WhatApp owned by Meta. Despite thousands of reports of fraudulent ads, Meta has continued their questionable inaction. Whether due to negligence or sheer dismissiveness, the result is the same: innocent users getting scammed, suffering financial loss, and the loss of their personal security.
The toll is not just financial. The psychological distress from such deception is immeasurable and leaves a lasting impact. This stance Meta has adopted is unacceptable, and their responsibility should not be shirked.
Officials in Japan have already begun to take action on this issue (Japan). It is time for our elected officials here in America to take the lead on an issue that costs Americans over $10 Billion every year (USA).
By signing this petition, you throw your support behind the call for Meta to be fined for selling advertisements to scammers, for their failure to act upon receiving scam reports, and their refusal to take liability for the disasters caused by the scam ads on their platforms. It's time for Meta to protect its users instead of profiting from their victimhood. Please, sign this petition. Stand with us against this digital exploitation.
