The Issue

In a time when nearly everything on our Google accounts is customizable, there is no excuse for Google not giving users the option to turn OFF the AI overview results.

Once upon a time, a Google search netted the user with the actual information they searched for (and the number of results retrieved in the time it took to retrieve them!) While those days seem like a lifetime ago and sponsored results and ads have long infiltrated Google searches, being forced to contend with pages of AI overview results, all spelled out, instead of seeing any actual search results is turning Internet search into a monster I don't think any of us even signed up for. Since We the People are apparently powerless to stop this catastrophic AI pissing contest between the elite American nerdboys and China, is it too much to ask of Google that we at least have the OPTION to select "Turn off AI overview results" in our simple Google searches? I don't think it is.
