Demand Thames Water to Halt Unfair Billing Increments and Reconsider Ownership

Demand Thames Water to Halt Unfair Billing Increments and Reconsider Ownership
The Issue
Thames Water has been repeatedly criticized for its poor maintenance and water management systems. This negligence has not only negatively impacted the communities it serves, but it also has led to increased fines, burdening subscribers with growing water bills. As customers, we are unfairly shouldering the cost of their mismanagement. Additionally, significant yearly bonuses are being paid out to shareholders, a fund that could be more justly utilized in improving Thames Water's services and covering the accrued fines.
We propose two solutions: firstly, an immediate cessation of the disproportionate increases in water bills. This is both an unjust and unsustainable model that disproportionately affects the most vulnerable in our society. Secondly, instead of these continual payouts to shareholders, these funds should be reinvested into the company to improve its infrastructure and service delivery.
Alternatively, we suggest considering shifting Thames Water to a state-owned model. This would allow for greater accountability and the reinvestment of profits back into service improvements, instead of benefiting a limited number of shareholders.
These are not outrageous demands. They stem from a desire for fair play, equitable rates, safe water, and the efficient use of our resources. Please join us in demanding Thames Water provides better, fairer services for all of us. Sign this petition.
