I think it’s important for me to let me people know…….
We asked a third party to reach out to the groomer who abused Charlie to check on her mental health due to the exposure and ensure she has spoken to her family and that she is aware of the national helplines to speak to.
We also offered the groomer the opportunity to speak with us to understand her side and treatment of Charlie.
In addition we encouraged her to apologise publicly or at least privately to Charlie’s owner.
The groomer insists she did nothing wrong. She has declined all the above and stated she has support and is fine.
This person Is not under trained they are a vet nurse. There are clear breaches of the Animal Welfare Act…enough for the RSPCA to investigate.
The fact there has been this level of exposure and so many groomers have supported her behaviour is extremely concerning.
Not everyone agrees with the public exposure, but i had raised my concerns witin the group to be mocked, laughed at when i stated kinder method’s could be used and offered training and support. To be mocked further and the groomer declined help. Then blocked. Change doesn’t happen in silence….our fur babies have no voice of their own.
I have a meeting with a WA MP in a few weeks to discuss where they are at in driving regulations and shall keep you updated.
A formal complaint has also been lodged with DMIRSs to report the Grooming Association’s Breaches of their code of conduct as well as failure to abide by the Association’s Act. For transparency a copy of the complaint was sent to the Association.
If you are a groomer and would like to have input on what regulations should look like please message me or email me ds_au@outlook.com
