Demand Shell Take Action Against Franchise Co-Owner Neel Ramlall for Gender-Based Violence

The Issue

My sister, Jenny Cullinan, was brutally assaulted by Neel Ramlall (alias Naidoo), a stranger to her, over two years ago. After the attack, she required stitches in her head and dental repairs. Today, we seek justice for my sister and all victims of gender-based violence.

We call on Shell to take immediate action against Ramlall, who co-owns the Fish Hoek and Simonstown Shell garages in Cape Town, South Africa, with his wife, Yogandrie Naidoo.

Ramlall's conviction for gender-based violence cannot be ignored or brushed aside by Shell. By allowing him to continue operating as a franchise co-owner under their brand name, Shell indirectly condones his actions and fails in its duty towards public safety.

Shell has a duty to ensure the safety and well-being of its customers, employees, and communities. It has the power and obligation to address this issue promptly. It is now essential for Shell to:

1. Terminate Neel Ramlall and Yogandrie Naidoo's contract due to his criminal conviction related to gender-based violence.

2. Implement stricter vetting procedures when selecting potential franchise owners or partners.

3. Provide support for survivors of gender-based violence, including employees and customers who may have been affected by franchise co-owners or their staff.

By signing this petition, we call upon Shell to take immediate action against Neel Ramlall (alias Naidoo) as a franchise co-owner convicted of gender-based violence.

We demand justice for Jenny and all survivors who have suffered at the hands of perpetrators like him and hold Shell accountable for taking decisive action against Ramlall's continued association with their brand.
