Demand Rockstar Games include discs in GTA VI physical editions
El problema
Growing up, I've been a Grand Theft Auto fan since day one. I still remember the thrill of popping the original Grand Theft Auto disc into my PC as a kid, ready to dive headfirst into those pixelated streets for hours on end. Over the years, I've collected every major release — from GTA III on the PlayStation 2, to Vice City, San Andreas, GTA IV, and both GTA V editions — each one came on a disc that I could hold and treasure. These discs were not just game cases gathering dust on my shelf; they stood as tangible pieces of my gaming history and a testament to my journey as a gamer.
Imagine my disappointment when I learned that the highly anticipated GTA VI would revolutionize its physical editions by shipping them with download codes only — no actual game discs included. I understand the industry's shift toward digital-only releases, but for fans like myself, the value lies in the tangible. The games we grew up with and loved came on discs and those discs became a part of our identity.
Physical game editions hold a unique nostalgia. They provide the satisfaction of unwrapping the game amidst mounting excitement to dive straight in. They also serve those of us with limited or unreliable internet access, allowing us to experience the game without the struggle of downloading enormous game files. Not to mention the preservation it assists for the future; discs don't suddenly disappear from your library, they don't become unavailable due to licensing agreements, and they can always be replayed years down the line.
By excluding discs from the physical editions of GTA VI, Rockstar Games is taking away an integral part of that experience. It’s not just a loss of physical media but a loss of the anticipation and excitement that fans like me have cherished for so many years.
Therefore, I call on Rockstar Games to reconsider their decision and continue to include actual discs in the physical editions of Grand Theft Auto VI. By doing so, they not only honor the legacy of their dedicated fanbase but also allow new generations of gamers to experience that same unmatched joy.
If you share this sentiment or have your own nostalgic attachment to the games of your youth, please sign this petition. Together, we can preserve the tradition of physical game releases for GTA VI and beyond.
