It has been a while since we have given an update, but there has been a lot of footwork going on behind the scenes (meetings, fliers and engagement, etc.) as we have pushed on to get us to NOW …
This matter is FINALLY GOING TO COUNCIL on NOVEMBER 14, 2023.
I know many of us are weary, but all our work to date comes down to this public hearing, where we hope the city councillors will listen. As such, with this final push, we again come to you asking that you show your support by speaking out. This is our final chance to go before city council and for them to hear our voices and see us; this is our chance to not only speak to their minds, but their hearts, and hopefully help them to see we need to find a middle ground / better solution.
CALL TO ACTION – DUE NOVEMBER 7that noon
HOW YOU CAN HELP/ WHAT WE NEED ….

The more voices we have, the better. Please consider how you can help, and nothing is too small …
While the more bodies and people we have register to attend (deadline Nov 7) to show up on Nov 14 the better, but all forms of support are welcomed – eg: submit your letter asap, attend virtually, speak, submit a letter and attend but don’t speak, etc.
WHAT TO SAY?
· Written submissions have no limit to length. Consider your goal and start with stating your position e.g.: “I oppose the land use redesignation LOC2022-0160 at 956 Radnor Road NE ….” and share your stance and concerns
· Verbal contributions virtually or in person still require you to register by Nov. 7 – you may want to also write a letter – but when you are speaking on November 14th be aware that you will be given 5-minutes to speak total. So, consider writing it ahead and practicing it so you can clearly communicate your primary and secondary concerns.
Some points that may be most salient to you to highlight to council:
· Cumulative Densification
· Instrastructure concerns
· Engineering Issues
· Traffic and Road Width Research
· Quality of life
· Contextually insensitive
· Not in line with “missing middle” housing concept
· Gradual densification and where appropriate
· Financial impact on residents who have chosen the area for its merits
· Mixed messaging – distrust towards – by the United Church
· Meaningful engagement? Telling isn’t engaging.
· Not respectful or responsible development and densification
· Safety concerns
· Shadowing
· Rezoning itself is an issue – not near major connector, part, pool etc.
· Parking
· Water Table
· How the consulting team has not addressed concerns
· Mixed messages (one bedroom units versus attracting families)
· Does not fit in to the NHCLAP process (not near major connector, park, pool, etc.)
