As a deeply concerned parent and education advocate of the Santa Ana Unified School District community, I call your attention to a distressing pattern of negligence and misconduct that has fostered a toxic environment for our students under Superintendent Jerry Almendarez's leadership. It is a place where sexual harassment and abuse towards students with disabilities go unanswered without any form of accountability. The yearning for a safe and nurturing academic environment for our students fuels this plea, particularly for those most vulnerable - the children we have pledged to protect and educate.

Jerry Almendarez’s tenure as the Superintendent has witnessed a disturbing lack of action and silence in the face of such severe allegations. This petition is being launched to challenge this harrowing status quo, and insist on Mr. Almendarez’s resignation. By doing this, we can pave the way for leadership that stands firm against any form of abuse, instituting a culture of trust, safety and respect for all students within the school district.

The well-being of our students should always be the top priority. When that is placed at risk, it is our moral duty as a community to step up and rectify the situation, even if it means a complete overhaul at the top of our system.

Como madre profundamente preocupada y defensora de la educación de la comunidad del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Santa Ana, llamo su atención sobre un patrón preocupante de negligencia y mala conducta que ha fomentado un ambiente tóxico para nuestros estudiantes bajo el liderazgo del Superintendente Jerry Almendarez. Es un lugar donde el acoso contra estudiantes con discapacidades y el abuso sexual hacia los estudiantes quedan sin respuesta y sin ningún tipo de rendición de cuentas. El anhelo de un entorno académico seguro y enriquecedor para nuestros estudiantes alimenta esta súplica, en particular para los más vulnerables: los niños que hemos prometido proteger y educar.

El mandato de Jerry Almendarez como Superintendente ha sido testigo de una inquietante falta de acción y silencio ante acusaciones tan graves.
