I believe that Sheriff Tommy Jones has demonstrated glaring incompetence and official misconduct. A deeply disturbing incident in February 2025 has reinforced this belief—a 74-year-old man was strapped down in a restraint chair at the Monroe County Justice Center, subjected to appalling treatment and abuse by the guards. This elderly man was left restrained for nine and a half hours, eventually leading to his tragic death and all of it was caught on the jails camera's. Sheriff Jones failed in his duty to hold those involved accountable, leading to immense dissatisfaction among me and fellow voters.

Sheriff Tommy Jones’s inability and unwillingness to take action against such misconduct calls his capacity to serve into question. The community of Monroe County deserves a leader who prioritizes justice and accountability, qualities that Sheriff Jones has repeatedly failed to embody. This is just one example of Sheriff Jones's negligence, which has shattered public trust and compromised the safety and integrity of our community.

It is crucial for the safety and sanctity of Monroe County that we demand Sheriff Tommy Jones be removed from office. His leadership—or lack thereof—not only endangers individuals but also undermines the moral fabric of our justice system. By removing him, we can work towards ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their age or situation, are treated with fairness and humanity within our justice systems.
