MCACC, instead of acknowledging the major issues at the shelter, has decided to claim that this campaign is a 'smear campaign' and the 'language used is often used to evoke a strong response from all of us animal lovers'.
Fortunately, we have testimonial from a courageous, former staff member. LIvia Hardy, who experienced the abuse and dysfunction daily decided to share her experience at MCACC. She was a dedicated worker who saw an injustice and attempted to bring it to the attention of the appropriate administrator. Instead of respecting her view and working to solve a problem MCACC created, they placed her on paid administrative leave for 2 weeks in which they demanded her silence.
I will not give up this fight until I feel that those in charge are truly doing their best for the animals, staff, and the community. Your voice matters and we are already making some headway behind the scenes.
Gouda, the dog referenced in LIvia's testimonial is pictured above. She attempted to advocate for him, yet he was killed anyway.
