Demand Reduction of New Apartments in Dansereau Meadows from 54 Units to 12 Units

Demand Reduction of New Apartments in Dansereau Meadows from 54 Units to 12 Units
The Issue
My community and I are facing a critical situation in Dansereau Meadows which deeply affects us. Our local government approved the development of 54 apartment units on a small parcel of mixed-use land, a drastic increase from the 12 units originally agreed. This increased density of housing threatens our quality of life; we fear that our neighbourhood will be overrun with traffic, the roadways will be congested with parking, and our property values will likely plummet as a result of these proposed changes.
This concern isn't baseless—denser housing often leads to greater population pressure which, in turn, affects the availability and quality of local services. The infrastructure in place is currently insufficient to support the proposed increase in residents. This includes social supports and other essential services. Parking has been a longstanding issue in our community; adding 54 new units, with only 22 assigned parking stalls for the building, would escalate the issue to unmanageable levels.
The current plan does not look beneficial for residents, for the businesses, or even for the city. We understand the need for affordable housing, but it should not lead to a degradation in the quality of life for those currently residing in the area. The planned 54 apartment units represent an unwarranted and irresponsible expansion. We respectfully request the authorities to reconsider and revert the plans to the originally approved 12 units, preserving our neighborhood's charm and our way of life.
We ask all members of our community to join us in voicing our concerns. Please sign our petition to demand a reduction in the number of units from 54 back to 12.
