Demand Real Action to Stop Illegal Street Racing in St. Louis

The Issue

For nearly a year, neighborhoods like Soulard and Kosciusko have endured the constant threat of illegal street racing, drifting, and sideshows—often happening late at night, just blocks from family homes and local businesses.

Despite countless 911 calls, community meetings, and messages to city officials, the problem has only gotten worse.

We are calling on Mayor Tishaura Jones, Police Commissioner Robert Tracy, Captain Angela Dickerson, Governor Mike Kehoe, and Alderwoman Cara Spencer to take immediate and decisive action to end this crisis before another tragedy occurs.

These gatherings are not harmless. They are loud, disruptive, organized, and deeply dangerous.

We’ve seen what happens when reckless driving goes unchecked. In 2023, 17 year-old Janae Edmondson was struck by a speeding driver and lost both of her legs. Her life was changed forever – and it never should’ve happened.

We don’t want another tragedy like that in Soulard, or anywhere in St. Louis.

Other cities like San Diego have shown what works:
✅ Specialized enforcement programs
✅ Vehicle forfeiture ordinances
✅ License suspension for participants and organizers
✅ Impoundment for spectators
✅ Community engagement programs

St. Louis needs real leadership—now.

We demand:

  1. A publicly released plan of action
  2. New or amended ordinances to increase penalties
  3. Full support from the Mayor's Office, SLMPD, and Board of Aldermen
  4. Coordination with property owners to secure known racing hotspots
  5. Transparent updates to the community

Sign this petition to show city leadership that we expect better.
