Demand Quality Control and Fresh Food in Bourbonnais Village's Local Pantry

Demand Quality Control and Fresh Food in Bourbonnais Village's Local Pantry
The Issue
I am a resident of Bourbonnais, Illinois, and like many families here, I rely on our local food pantry from time to time. The "Secret Pantry" has been a lifeline for many of us in the community. However, recently it has become clear that this vital resource is failing us. They are now demanding donations while distributing moldy expired or spoiled food in bulk - most of which must be disposed of due to its poor quality.
This is not just my story; it's the story of countless families who depend on this pantry for their basic needs. We deserve better than spoiled food that poses health risks and wastes our limited resources.
It's high time we ask the village to spend some of their tax money on something that will genuinely benefit our community - a food pantry with quality control that provides fresh and healthy foods including meats.
According to Feeding America, 1 in 8 people struggle with hunger in Illinois (source: Feeding America). This statistic underscores the importance and urgency of having a reliable source for nutritious meals for those who need them most.
We call upon the village authorities to take immediate action towards improving our local pantry by implementing strict quality control measures and ensuring they distribute only fresh foods. This change would not only improve public health but also restore dignity to those who depend on these services.
Please sign this petition if you believe everyone deserves access to fresh, healthy food regardless of their circumstances.
