The Issue

As a proud Indian, the incident involving the Congress party and their leadership on the 15th of August 2026 has left a deep mark on my conscience. During the flag hoisting ceremony, when our sacred national song, Vande Mataram, was played, the actions and attitudes of Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge exhibited a blatant lack of respect for the solemnity and significance that this song holds for millions of Indians. Such disregard for our national values and sentiments cannot and should not be ignored.

Vande Mataram, a symbol of our freedom struggle, instills a sense of pride and unity among Indians. It has been instrumental in galvanizing the spirit of nationalism and pride across the country for over a century. By failing to respect this revered anthem during a ceremony as significant as our Independence Day, the Congress leaders have not only hurt the sentiments of the citizens but have also portrayed India in a negative light.

This petition calls for Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge to issue a written apology and also apologize publicly in front of the media. Such a gesture would reaffirm their commitment to uphold the values enshrined in our national symbols and demonstrate their respect for the rich cultural and historical heritage of India.

Moreover, it is paramount that this incident serves as a lesson and a deterrent to all political figures. Setting an example through apology and acknowledgment of wrongdoing is necessary to ensure that no individual or party, regardless of their position, feels emboldened to undermine our national symbols again. A public apology would not only heal the wounds caused by this incident but also reinstall faith in political leadership.

It is our responsibility as citizens to ensure that those in power respect our traditions and symbols. By signing this petition, you are not only demanding an apology from the Congress leaders but also advocating for a future where our national identity and sentiments are respected and preserved.
