Evening everyone.
More brave souls have reacheded out to me sharing their story with me and tonight I am angry and I am sad. I knew I wasn't alone but I don't think I was prepared for how rife this is.
Independents working within the NDIS are suffering. They are being mistreated. They are being silenced. They are being subjected to unacceptable behaviours and unacceptable work conditions and this needs to stop.
I do know that this is not everyone's situation but I also know that my story is not an isolated story. One worker in an environment where they feel vulnerable, silenced, scared and concerned of consequences if they choose to speak up.... IS ONE TOO MANY! PERIOD.
I know that this campaign does not resonate with everyone and until this chapter occured in my life, it wouldn't have with me either. What I would have seen though is someone fighting and campaigning for stronger systems, protections and fairer conditions in their workplace. And that, I would support.
When you have dedicated, compassionate beautiful Support Workers with careers that, like mine, stem for decades, leave their vocation due to the stress and toll it has taken on them. Due to being concerned they will find themselves in a similar situation again and have to endure the same treatment.... then it's time to make some serious changes!
