Football is a global game, but the math behind FIFA’s World Cup slot distribution tells a story of systemic inequality. While UEFA (Europe) receives 16 guaranteed slots for its 55 members (nearly \(30\%\) qualification rate), CAF (Africa) receives only 9 to 10 slots for its 54 member nations (just \(18\%\) qualification rate).
South America (CONMEBOL) sees up to \(70\%\) of its nations qualify, while over \(80\%\) of African nations are mathematically eliminated before the tournament even begins.
Despite decades of structural disadvantages—including the legacy of FIFA’s historical monopolies and limited tournament representation—African nations have consistently delivered legendary World Cup performances, from Cameroon’s magical run in 1990 to Morocco’s historic 4th-place finish in 2022.
The expansion to 48 teams failed to address this structural imbalance; it simply masked it. True sporting merit cannot exist when entire continents are barred from the pitch due to arbitrarily capped quotas.
We, the undersigned players, federations, and fans, demand the following immediate actions from FIFA:
End structural bias: Reallocate 5 to 6 additional guaranteed World Cup slots to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to achieve true proportional parity with European and South American allocations.
Commit to fair representation: Establish a transparent, equitable, and data-driven formula for slot distribution that respects the growth and global impact of African football.

History has shown that FIFA does not hand out equity—it must be demanded. We call on the global football community to support this movement. Respect African football, or risk the unity of the global game.
