Demand Proof Before Removing Children from BC Homes

Demand Proof Before Removing Children from BC Homes
The Issue
My grandchildren were uprooted from their home based on an unsubstantiated claim of a crime that allegedly took place in my residence. There was no evidence to support this severe accusation, yet the consequences were immediate and devastating: they were torn away from their family and separated into different foster homes. They deserve to return home to the loving embrace of their family.
This isn't just about my family. This is a deeply unsettling reality faced by many others in British Columbia, where the Ministry of Children and Family Development can remove children from their homes without substantial proof of abuse or neglect. This practice not only disrupts families but also subjects children to unnecessary trauma, breaking their sense of security and belonging.
Statistics indicate that numerous cases involve removal based on suspicion rather than verified evidence, causing undue distress and fear among families. This situation undermines the very essence of justice and protection that the ministry should stand for.
We propose that policies be revised to ensure that concrete proof is required before any child is taken from their home. Such a change would respect the rights of families and prioritize the well-being of children by keeping them in their familiar environment, unless credible evidence necessitates their removal.
The ministry claims that 19% of children returned to their families are back in care in 1 year. They use this claim to justify their wholesale legalized kidnapping of children. But I see this statistic differently. It tells me that 81% of the children they remove should have never been removed from their families. They are determined to break family bonds in order to place our children in adoptions to fill their quotas. None of this is done in the best interests of the child it’s done in the best interests of social workers who are rewarded for kidnapping children from their daycares and schools.
We call on the citizens of British Columbia to support this cause for fair and just treatment of families. Sign this petition to urge the Ministry of Children and Family Development to require incontrovertible evidence before making life-altering decisions. With your support, we can protect the sanctity of family and ensure that children receive the protection they truly need. Please sign and share this petition to bring about meaningful change.
