Demand Ontario's Auditor General Investigate Ford's "More Homes Built Faster" Act!

Demand Ontario's Auditor General Investigate Ford's "More Homes Built Faster" Act!
The Issue
Today, Premier Doug Ford's Government passed the "More Homes Built Faster" Act.
The Act will open up for development, 7400 Acres of Ontario's Green Belt, some of the best farm land in the country, and some of Ontario's most environmentally sensitive land, and wet-lands, in order to build homes. The Ford Government's own housing task force concluded there was enough land already available for the necessary housing, and the Act makes no provisions that the homes built will be affordable.
A recent Toronto Star, and Narwhal investigation revealed that of the 15 areas opened for development, 8 of them were purchased since Doug Ford's election in 2018. One was purchased for $80 Million only 2 months ago. Who would pay $80 Million for land that couldn't be developed?
Nine of the developers who stand to benefit the most from the opening of the Greenbelt have donated about $572,000 to Doug Ford's Conservatives since 2014. Doug Ford is literally rewarding a handful of wealthy developers who will turn a few Million Dollars into Billions in profit!
NDP MPP Marit Stiles has asked Ontario's Auditor General, Bonnie Lysyk to open an investigation into the land deals.
Stiles is asking for Ontario’s auditor general to conduct a “value-for-money audit investigating how much wealth would be increased for property owners when their lands are removed from the Greenbelt,” and if “this wealth transfer is in the public interest.”
I am echoing that call. Ontarians deserve to know if Doug Ford has been making back-room deals!
Please join me in demanding Ontario's Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk open a value-for-money audit into Ford's Green Belt land deals!
