I was shocked and angry to find out that the new Nintendo Account User Agreement, effective from 2025, after Switch 2's presentation, contains a provision that could render my Switch 2 permanently unusable at the whim of the company. This issue is deeply personal to me as I rely on my Switch 2 for entertainment and stress relief, and now I face the possibility of losing access to it, or its online services indefinitely. 

The recent update to the agreement grants Nintendo the right to deactivate a device with just a click of a button. This draconian and abusive measure strips users of any sense of security or ownership or freedom over their purchased devices. As loyal customers who invest our hard-earned money into Nintendo products and games, it feels unjust and unreasonable and unfair to live under the threat of having our consoles rendered inoperative without notice or justification. 

Nintendo’s previous user agreement, which existed before 2025, offered a more balanced approach. We were assured the basic right to use our purchased devices without sudden disruptions. Reverting to these terms would restore trust and respect between Nintendo and its community.

2025 totally sucked.

We call upon Nintendo to reconsider and reverse the current user agreement back to its pre-2025 version. We deserve the freedom to use our devices and games without the fear of them being bricked arbitrarily. This is about standing up for consumer and player rights and ensuring companies respect our ownership of purchased products.
