Demand Mold Regulations for Guest Safety! Hidden Dangers in Hotels and their Restaurants

The Issue

Trying to keep this short guys:

You book a hotel expecting fresh air, clean rooms, and safe food—not hidden mold in the walls, vents, and even your breakfast, and restaurants inside these hotels. Yet, health departments are failing to enforce real inspections.

I’ve taken this fight to senators, state reps, and the Allen County Health Department demanding transparency and accountability for the Courtyard Marriott (1150 S Harrison St, Fort Wayne, IN) and Hampton Inn (223 W Jefferson Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN), both owned by ZMC Hotels. These issues aren’t isolated—ZMC Hotels operates 40+ hotels nationwide under major franchise names, potentially exposing thousands of guests daily. I was the Chief Engineer Director of these properties and witnessed the severe issue firsthand.

Conner's Kitchen is situated inside the courtyard Marriott. Tests confirmed mold present. Even public records reveals past inspections where moldy strawberries were found. Witnesses confirm mold on angles and bread being served to guests. Ignored. The other test confirmed mold in the Hampton Inn guest rooms, which is a result of water intrusion from the upper most floor.

To the entire hotel industry:
We deserve better. We deserve hotels that put health before profits.

Why do restaurants face strict health codes, but hotels get a free pass on mold?

Why are guests unknowingly exposed to airborne toxins?

Why isn’t public safety a priority?

I’m pushing for stronger mold regulations, real inspections, and industry-wide accountability. No more secrecy. No more cover-ups. Join me. Sign the petition. Demand action.

Why I’m Fighting for Safer Hotels

I never expected to become a whistleblower. I was just doing my job as Chief Engineer at Courtyard Marriott and Hampton Inn (Fort Wayne, IN) when I discovered something alarming—mold was growing in food prep areas, guest rooms, and HVAC systems. Employees knew. Contractors knew. Management? They ignored it.

I tried everything—reporting it internally, reaching out to health officials, public safety protests, even personally taking mold samples for lab testing. The Allen County Health Department refused to act, and I realized: if I didn’t fight for this, who would?

If restaurants must follow strict food safety laws, why aren’t hotels held to the same standard for the air we breathe and the food we eat?

I’m pushing for transparency, stronger mold regulations, and real public health enforcement.

Join the movement. Let’s make hotels safe for everyone. We can make a change! I won't give up!
