Demand Mobile County to Address Overgrown and Clogged Culverts and Drainage Ditches
The Issue
I am a resident of Theodore, AL, USA, in the neighborhood containing Thomas Drive, Clyde Drive, Alice Drive, Mardanne Drive, and other adjacent roads where we have been experiencing significant issues due to overgrown and clogged culverts and drainage ditches within the county's right of way. This problem has caused damage to homes in my neighborhood and severe erosion to the existing landscape. We dutifully pay our taxes with the expectation that our county will maintain these areas properly.
Unfortunately, this issue is not unique to just our neighborhood. According to reports from local authorities across the country, poorly maintained drainage systems can lead to flooding during heavy rains causing property damage (source: National Flood Insurance Program). It is crucial for Mobile County officials not only evaluate but also address this issue promptly.
We are calling on Mobile County officials to take immediate action. The residents of Theodore deserve better than this; we deserve a safe environment where we don't have constant fear of property damage due to poor maintenance by those who should be protecting us.
Please sign this petition urging Mobile County officials for an immediate evaluation and addressing of overgrown and clogged culverts and drainage ditches within their right of way.
