The Issue

Dear Mazda USA Customer Service Team,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my concern regarding a significant issue affecting Mazda MX-5 vehicles, specifically concerning manual transmission failures in the 2022-2023 model years and already reports of some 2024 vehicles reported online which you can find with a simple search. There are even reports overseas of the same failures in these vehicles.

As a loyal Mazda customer and proud owner of a 2023 Mazda MX-5, I have always appreciated Mazda's commitment to quality and performance. However, I have recently become aware of numerous reports and complaints from owners about transmission failures in relatively new and low-mileage vehicles. Even owners on their second or third replacement already.

This issue has not only been disruptive to driving experience but has also raised concerns about the long-term reliability and safety of the vehicle.

Upon further investigation, it has become evident that this problem is to be a widespread issue affecting many MX-5 owners across the country. Owners of 2022, 2023, and now even 2024 model year MX-5s have reported similar transmission issues, indicating a potentially systemic problem that requires urgent attention.

I understand that manufacturing defects can occasionally occur, but the frequency and scope of these transmission failures are deeply troubling. As a Mazda enthusiast, I urge Mazda USA to address this issue promptly and transparently. Owners like myself deserve clarity on what steps Mazda is taking to rectify these transmission issues, whether through improved manufacturing processes, recalls, or other remedial actions.

I kindly request that Mazda USA provide guidance on how affected owners can seek resolution for these issues, as stated there have been a large amount of owners having transmissions replaced under warranty to only have issues return as the transmission replacement internals have not been addressed. Multiple owner have even been on their 2nd or 3rd replacement.

This is completely unacceptable to have this many failures reported already with such low mileage vehicles and have vehicles have multiple  transmissions replaced due to the same issue. This needs to be addressed for your loyal customers and to keep the Mx-5’s good reputation.

Mazda Please Make This Right For Your Customers!
Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

2023 Mazda Mx-5 owner.

It's time for Mazda to acknowledge, rectify, and prevent this transmission failure problem for the safety and satisfaction of their customers. I am calling out to fellow Mazda ND Mx-5 owners, car enthusiasts, and the general public to sign this petition. Together, we can push Mazda to take action and to show them that we won't be satisfied with anything less than a proper resolution to this issue. Sign the petition now and join me in this fight for our rights as consumers.
