Like many of you reading this, I deeply love and respect animals, considering each of them precious, worthy of dignity and protection. Therefore, I was left horrified and appalled upon seeing this on social media the merciless treatment of a tiny tabby kitten at the hands of Gracie Giblin. Caught on camera at Port Lincoln Wharf, Giblin was seen swinging the innocent creature by its tail before mercilessly hurtling it into the ocean.

Such acts of animal cruelty are unacceptable and warrant severe legal penalties. According to the Humane Society International, over 1 million animals are abused every year globally. Intentional cruelty to animals is correlated with other crimes, including violence against people and property crimes. Strong enforcement of animal protection laws can, therefore, help safeguard not just animals but also our communities.

Gracie Giblin's actions have caused public outrage and condemnation. It is high time that justice should be served. We demand that authorities investigate this act of blatant disregard for life and bring Gracie Giblin to face the full weight of the law.
