We are devastated to report that Jose and Josue Trejo Lopez were deported this morning, May 7, 2025, without any prior notice to their attorney or family—shortly after ICE denied their administrative stay of removal (Form I-246), despite earlier assurances that removal would not occur before Friday, May 9.
The brothers—ages 19 and 20—were brought to the U.S. at ages 10 and 11 and have lived here for nearly a decade. They were pursuing valid legal relief through pending Special Immigrant Juvenile Status petitions and a Motion to Reopen before the Board of Immigration Appeals. One brother was scheduled to graduate high school on May 21.
They were subjected to inhumane treatment while in ICE custody, including being shackled for 16 hours, denied adequate food and bathroom access, and forced to wear the same soiled clothing for four days.
This deportation—executed in silence and against assurances—raises grave concerns about due process, transparency, and human dignity. Over 1,000 of you stood up and signed this petition in less than 24 hours. Your voices matter, and we thank you.
We will continue to press for answers and accountability. Please continue sharing.
