As a parent and local, I am personally shaken and infuriated by the Amite County police department and officials in a horrifying incident that recently took place in the community. 

A little life, 10-year-old Jordan Hill, was abruptly stolen from us when he was hit by a truck while riding his ATV. What’s worse, the man responsible, Cody Rollinson, did not even stop to check on the child he hit, and instead kept driving. Disturbingly, he only returned later to retrieve a dislodged mirror from his truck due to the incident. 

Although there were no skid marks on the road indicating any attempt from Rallinson to halt his vehicle, he still roams free, living only a few houses away from where the incident occurred.

The disregard towards this blatant act of reckless endangerment is simply egregious and the absence of immediate detention is a gross miscarriage of justice, which not only paints a disturbing picture of our system but significantly fractures our societal trust.

We demand that Cody  of Amite County Mississippi be arrested and charged with Jordan's death. This isn't simply about attaining justice for Jordan alone, but about ensuring the safety of all children in our community.

Everyone should feel safe in their own neighborhood; this requires accountability for such horrifying actions.

Jordan was obviously a vessel of love and light and he had his entire life ahead of him. His Mother is left with empty arms and they will never be filled with her son and his love again. This could have been my child, your child…. We are all this mama and he needs a voice that he no longer has - because of Cody Rollinson.
