Demand justice for Sophia Dinverno and all victims failed by the system
The Issue
Sophia Dinverno was more than just a name in a case file, to thousands of people in the Star Stable community, she was a vibrant creator, a talented artist, and a friend. Her voice reached across the globe, yet when she needed the legal system to speak for her, it went silent. In early 2023, Sophia passed away under circumstances that remain a mystery to this day. MD’s death was officially labeled an 'Unknown Cause,' and the circumstances surrounding Sophia’s 2023 passing have left the community with the same unanswered questions. We are starting this petition because we refuse to let their stories end in a question mark.
The 2020 Oversight:
Years before the final tragedy, a child abuse investigation was opened following reports of a "dangerous environment." Shockingly, this investigation was closed simply because the parents "failed to comply" with authorities.
The "Unknown" Statistic: It is statistically rare for two children in the same household to die within a short period with "Unknown" causes of death. While the family suggested these were accidental overdoses, the medical examiner’s inability to confirm a cause suggests that the original forensic investigation was either incomplete or obstructed.
Admissions of Abuse: The Court of Appeals explicitly noted that the father allegedly made admissions regarding his behavior. Despite this evidence, the "wall of non-compliance" allowed the case to be swept under the rug.
Why This is Personal to Us:
We are a global community of advocates, fans, and concerned citizens who believe that justice should not have an expiration date. When a legal system allows an investigation to be shut down because the accused refuses to cooperate, it sends a dangerous message that the rights of the adult matter more than the life of the child. We are taking this personally because Sophia and her brother can no longer speak for themselves. We are their voice now.
Our Clear Demand for Change:
We are calling on the Jackson County Prosecutor and the Michigan Attorney General to reopen these files immediately. We demand:
A comprehensive forensic audit of the toxicology and autopsy reports for both siblings.
A transparent review of why the 2020 protective services case was allowed to close without compliance.
Accountability for the systemic lapses that left these children in a documented "dangerous environment."
Please sign and share this petition. Your signature is a vote for accountability and a promise that we will not look away until the truth is uncovered.
Another note to add is that while we do not know for certain that the father is involved in Sophia and her brother's deaths, we would like the case to be investigated properly in order to have clarity and bring justice to the victims.
