Samantha Murphy, a beloved member of the Ballarat  community, was tragically taken from us in an act of senseless violence. This petition is deeply personal to me and many others who knew and loved Samantha. We are devastated by her loss, but what hurts us the most is the thought that her killer might escape the full weight of justice.

Samantha's killer committed an unforgivable crime that can never be forgiven. It's a grim reminder that every year in Australia there are over 16,000 reported homicides (source: Australian Federal police Uniform Crime Reporting Program). Each one of these cases represents a life lost and a family left behind to grieve.

We demand justice for Samantha Murphy. We call on our local law enforcement agencies and judicial system to ensure that her killer faces the maximum penalty under law - life imprisonment without parole. This will not bring back Samantha, but it will send a strong message that such heinous crimes will not be tolerated in our society.
