Demand justice for Hiland Greens Tower 11 to 20 flat-owners
The Issue
For years, I have dreamt of owning my own home, dedicating my lifetime savings to book a flat at Hiland Greens Towers 11 to 20 in Kolkata, a dream shared by many others. However, our dreams were shattered with continuous delays in construction, which have turned into a nightmare. Despite promises from the developer, construction has been on hold since the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic—a pandemic that has become an excuse for the developer to justify these ongoing delays.
This is not just an inconvenience. It has deep ramifications for hundreds of families who invested their hard-earned money into these properties, believing they were securing a safe and stable future. No progress has been made in resuming construction, and to make matters worse, HDFC Bank, a major lender to the project, rejected the resolution proposals, yet have failed to provide any valid reason, leaving us in an unsettling limbo.
The financial and emotional toll is overwhelming. We trusted that our investment was safe and would eventually become our home. Instead, we are left paying loans for properties that don't exist while struggling with escalating renting costs to keep a roof over our heads.
We demand action from the West Bengal Government and the relevant authorities, to mediate with the developers and HDFC Bank to ensure that we get our rightful flats or a complete refund with interest. We urge the authorities to thoroughly investigate these delays, hold those accountable for providing concrete solutions, and enforce measures that protect buyers from such exploitation in the future.
Several judgements of the supreme court of India have recently upheld the contention of home buyers that their interests cannot be compromised for the sake of bankers and developers. We do not see any reason why the same principle should not apply to us.
We call upon all affected residents, as well as supporters who believe in justice and fair treatment in the real estate sector, to join us in this cause. Stand with us as we demand the fairness we deserve. Please sign this petition so our collective voice can bring the change we desperately need.
