In the middle of a dangerous heat wave, a dog was found tied to a trash can outside Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro—left for over two hours with only a Styrofoam dish of water. The heat index that day was near 100 degrees.

This wasn’t a mistake. This was cruelty.

Thankfully, the dog survived and is now under the care of animal control. But it should never have come to this. And next time, the outcome could be worse.

Attleboro police have identified and charged the man responsible, but justice can’t stop at one case. We’re calling on city leaders, animal control, and Bristol County prosecutors to push for the maximum penalty and to strengthen local ordinances so that animal cruelty in this form is treated with the seriousness it deserves.

No animal should suffer like this—not here, not anywhere. And no one should get away with it quietly.
