Demand Justice for Aubreigh Wyatt and Raise Bullying and Mental Health Awareness

The Issue

Aubreigh Wyatt, a 13 or 14-year-old girl, tragically took her own life due to relentless bullying by her peers at Ocean Springs Middle School. She was a victim of bullying by Molly Noblitt, Ava Case, Payton Hembree, and Parker Green. Furthermore, Aubreigh was a survivor of sexual assault incident that occurred at a baseball game. This intolerable cruelty led Aubreigh to commit suicide, leaving her devastated mother Heather, to find her letters detailing the torment she underwent.

Aubreigh's family was so traumatized by the incident that they could no longer live in their house, which felt empty without her; they moved to escape the painful memories. This heart-wrenching personal story underscores an urgent wider issue we need to address: the devastating impacts of bullying and the necessity for mental health awareness.

Nearly 20% of students ages 12-18 experienced bullying nationwide (National Center for Education Statistics, 2016). This statistic is alarming, indicating that instances similar to Aubreigh's are far from isolated cases. Moreover, suicide is the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 34 (National Institute of Mental Health, 2017).

We cannot allow Aubreigh's story to become just another statistic. We demand a thorough investigation into Aubreigh's case to bring those responsible to justice. We also urge for an increased focus on mental health initiatives, particularly in schools, to prevent such tragedies from happening again in the future. Please sign this petition to take a stand against bullying and to promote mental health awareness.
