At sunrise this past weekend, students and families in Heath, Texas, woke up to a horrifying sight: two Nazi flags hanging outside Rockwall-Heath High School. These weren’t just pieces of cloth — they were symbols of hatred, intimidation, and violence against Jewish communities and all who believe in equality.

The images, shared widely across social media, have left many families shaken. Students should never walk into school fearing that the symbols of genocide and oppression will be displayed on the very walls meant to protect them. Yet that’s exactly what happened here.

This is not just a “prank.” Nazi symbols are directly tied to antisemitic violence, white supremacy, and some of history’s darkest atrocities. When these flags are hung outside a public school, it sends a dangerous message to every student inside: that hate has a place here. Parents are asking — if such blatant acts of hate can happen on campus, what comes next?

Authorities have said an investigation is underway, but the community deserves more than promises. Students deserve action. Rockwall-Heath High School, Rockwall ISD, and the Heath Department of Public Safety must identify those responsible, hold them fully accountable under the law, and ensure this never happens again. That means not only prosecuting those behind this hateful act but also guaranteeing stronger protections for students and staff against harassment and intimidation.

Hate has no place in Texas schools. Our children deserve classrooms filled with safety, respect, and dignity — not symbols of terror. Every day that passes without justice sends the wrong message: that this was tolerated, or worse, ignored.
