The Issue

Hey, everyone. I'm reaching out to you today with a heavy heart. Last night in Jackson, Mississippi, two people robbed and one of them tragically lost their life and the other one is fighting for his life in an incident at a local store. It's heartbreaking and, frankly, terrifying to see how this violence is becoming part of our everyday life. My Son Roy Edward Holden The Third Lost His Life To A Senseless Act Of Gun Violence . Our community is hurting, and I can't just sit back and watch as these tragedies continue to unfold.

In Jackson, the violence seems unending, and it’s clear that something needs to change. Our city is in desperate need of effective solutions that address the root causes of this violence. We cannot keep reacting to these tragedies after they occur. We need proactive measures that emphasize prevention and build stronger, safer neighborhoods for everyone.

Community safety programs have proven successful in reducing violence in cities across the country. By investing in initiatives that focus on mentorship, mental health support, and conflict resolution, Jackson can create an environment where safety and harmony flourish. These programs can provide our youth with positive role models, reduce tensions, and bring resources to areas in need.

This isn't just about keeping our streets safe; it's about instilling hope and positivity in our community. We deserve to live without fear, to walk into our local stores without worrying about our safety. We need to come together as a city and demand more from our local government. Demand that they prioritize our safety and well-being by allocating funds to community safety programs that can make a real difference.

Please join me in calling the city of Jackson to action. Let's create a safer future for our community—one where we don't have to mourn the loss of loved ones to senseless violence. Sign the petition to demand that Jackson invests in community safety programs today.
