am writing this urgent appeal on behalf of my husband, who has been subjected to continuous negligence and indifference from the medical staff at the correctional facility where he is housed. The severe injuries he sustained from a horrific incident were caused by individuals in the facility. These injuries have resulted in persistent dizziness, blurred vision, as well as numbness in his pinky and wrist.

Despite repeated pleas for medical assistance documented through 602's - a form used by prisoners to file complaints and grievances - no help has been offered to him. He continues to suffer from the debilitating aftermath of his injuries. Lack of appropriate medical care has disrupted his everyday life - impacting his ability to focus and even see clearly due to the blurred vision.

This unnecessary personal suffering is a reflection of a larger issue of systemic neglect of prisoners. In 2015, it was reported that about 4% of prisoners experienced serious injuries due to assaults and fights within facilities — injuries that often go untreated (source: Bureau of Justice Statistics).

It is our moral imperative to recognize and uphold the right of prisoners to basic healthcare no matter what the circumstances are. We cannot allow such violations of human rights to persist.
