The car insurance industry is a scam. We are FORCED to buy car insurance just in case something happens but when something does happen, they protect only themselves. I believe that the entire car insurance industry needs a complete overhaul. One way to achieve this is for car insurance companies to become not-for-profit organizations instead of a CEO/board member leading a for-profit organization. Only then will they protect us and work on our behalf.

I was hit by a transport truck that ran straight through a red light three years ago and nearly killed me. The car insurance company is doing everything in its power to brush me to the side. They simply don't care that I have been crippled from this incident and it has stripped away my ability to work. They don't even follow the government's rules. They have just tossed me to the side, refused treatment plans, and have offered me less than $150 biweekly as an income replacement benefit. Nobody in Canada can live off of that. It is literally impossible. They purposefully drag things along slowly to force people to drown in debt. Years ago Bob Rae set rules that insurance companies can only be sued for a maximum of 2 million dollars in return for them not raising rates. But rates have steadily climbed regardless of that deal back in the 80s or 90s. While every Canadian is forced to follow government rules, insurance companies DO NOT.  This is destroying lives, bankrupting the innocent, and leaving people homeless, severely crippled and unable to work. This is not fair or legal but there is nothing anyone can do. I beg the government of Canada to start enforcing fair practices by all insurance companies.

They will spend more money on private investigators to spy on you just so they can get away with not paying to fix the lives they are charged with protecting. 

The entire industry needs an overhaul to make insurance companies do the job they are paid to do, PROTECT. I have never heard of any scenario where the insurance company has taken responsibility without fighting tooth and nail to prevent a fair resolution. This shows their corruption and this needs to completely change. They will do the bare minimum to avoid paying out. They have refused every treatment plan that has been requested by countless doctors and specialists just so they can get higher pay for themselves and their board members. 

In my case, Western Assurance is the company that seems to be trying its very best to destroy what little remains of my life.

I beg everyone who uses Western Assurance to rethink what they want from their insurance company and to show them that we will not allow them to walk over us and that, IT IS THEIR SOLE RESPONSIBILITY TO PROTECT US THAT PAY THEIR WAGES NOT FORCE US INTO A CORNER AND BANKRUPTCY.

Please sign this petition in the hopes that Canada can have fair and just insurance that actually works for those that pay them. Why are we forced to have insurance if the insurance isn't forced to do their job properly? This has gotten worse year by year. Why do I have to come to the brink of declaring bankruptcy because a transport truck ran a red light and T-boned my vehicle nearly killing me? Especially, when the driver of the truck has taken full responsibility and said he ran a red light and just didn't see it.

We as Canadians need to stand up for our right to a fair and just car insurance industry. My hope is that enough people will sign this petition to force the hand of the government to take appropriate action.

Together, we can be the change that is needed and make Canada a world leader in fairness.
