The Issue

In recent times, the presence of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) and their hateful activities have cast a shadow over the campus of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. We have witnessed racial targeted attacks and threats that have instilled fear among the students and staff, most notably those from minority communities. These acts of hatred and intimidation strike at the core of our community’s values of diversity, equality, and inclusion.

It is imperative that Indiana University of Pennsylvania takes an unequivocal stand against these despicable acts. The university must publicly and outright condemn any and all KKK activities and threats on campus. Silence and inaction in the face of such divisive and harmful behavior only emboldens the perpetrators and discourages our community members from feeling safe and supported.

We demand that those responsible for these racial attacks and threats be identified and held accountable through appropriate disciplinary actions. Moreover, the university must collaborate with local law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of all students and staff. Swift and efficient investigation and TRANSPARENCY in these processes will demonstrate a firm commitment to justice and equality.

Furthermore, proactive measures must be implemented to ensure the campus is a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. This can include the introduction of educational programs focused on tolerance and anti-racism, as well as fostering an environment where students from all backgrounds feel heard, protected, and respected.

We urge the administration of Indiana University of Pennsylvania to take these necessary steps to ensure a campus environment that reflects the values of acceptance and respect for all individuals. It is crucial that nobody on campus feels entitled to act out of hate and prejudice ever again.

Please sign this petition to show your support and demand immediate and decisive action from Indiana University of Pennsylvania to address these critical issues and secure a brighter, more inclusive future for all its students and staff. Together, we can stand up against hate and foster a community where everyone can thrive without fear.
